Search for a Crohn’s or colitis tracker and you’ll find a lot of apps. Some are made for IBD, some for IBS, and some for every condition at once. This guide covers what to look for, then describes eight apps as their makers describe them, so you can decide which ones to try.

We make one of them, Flarely. We’ve tried to describe every app on the same terms, including ours. Every rating and update date below comes from each app’s US App Store page, checked on October 2, 2026. These change often, so check the store before you decide.

What to look for

Logging that works on bad days. The days you most want a record are the days you least want to fill in a form. Look at how many taps a bowel movement takes, and whether you can skip the details you don’t care about.

The things you actually want to record. For many people with Crohn’s or UC that’s BMs, blood, urgency and pain, plus meals and stress. Some apps add sleep, mood, medication, cycle or weather. More isn’t better if you won’t use it.

A clear way to look back. The point of logging is seeing how the last few weeks went. Look for a calendar or charts that show your days side by side, not just a list of entries.

A way to share. Many people want a summary they can show their care team, family or a friend. Check what the app exports and whether it’s readable on a phone.

Privacy you’re comfortable with. Health logs are personal. Read the app’s privacy policy and the “App Privacy” section on its App Store page, which lists what’s collected and whether it’s linked to you.

Honest pricing. Most of these apps are free to download with a subscription inside. Check what’s free, what isn’t, and how the trial works before you start one.

The apps

Flarely

Made by us, for Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis, by someone living with UC since 2019. iPhone only.

  • Logging: a BM in three taps (blood, urgency, pain), with stool type and mucus optional. Meals from a photo, with foods and tags filled in for you to check. Stress on a 1 to 10 scale, and your fasting window.
  • Looking back: a 14-day plan where you pick two things to keep an eye on and get your own summary on day 13, plus a Summary tab with a calendar and charts over 7, 30 or 90 days.
  • Sharing: a 30-day summary PDF.
  • Privacy: logs are stored on your iPhone. A meal photo or a recap goes to OpenAI through Flarely’s server only when you ask, and the server doesn’t keep it.
  • Price: free to download; $39.99 a year with a 14-day free trial, or $4.99 a month.
  • Worth knowing: newer than most apps here, with few ratings so far (4.5 from 2 ratings in the US). No Android or web version.
  • A good fit if you have Crohn’s or UC and want a daily log that takes a few taps, plus a 14-day look at the things you picked, side by side.

Bearable - Symptom Tracker

Cara Care: IBS, FODMAP Tracker

How to choose

  1. Pick two or three that fit what you want to track.
  2. Use each for a few days, including a bad one if you can. Notice which one you still open when you’re tired and in pain.
  3. Look back after a week. Which one shows you your days most clearly?
  4. Check privacy and pricing before you start a paid trial.

The best tracker is the one you keep using. A record you keep for a month says far more than a perfect setup you drop after three days.

If you’d like to try Flarely, it’s on the App Store. For what to log once you’ve picked an app, see What to Log Each Day With IBD and the Bristol Stool Chart for IBD.
